Call for Abstracts -
At the PLANT GEM MEETING, scientific works will be accepted in Posters format.

Based on their suitability and appropriateness to the different Sessions, the Scientific Committee will choose a number of works to be proposed as oral presentations.

The deadline for the Abstract presentations is as follows:

1. Deadline for sending the Abstracts: July 24 th
2. Deadline for Abstract acceptance response: September 4 th
3. Last date for abstract submission: August 28 th
    (with inclusion in the abstract book, but no oral presentation)

 

IMPORTANT NOTE OVER POSTERS PRESENTATION

The Organizing Committee of the 8th Plant Gem Meeting will accept the submission of abstracts for poster presentation until September 8th.

No abstracts will be considered for a Selected Talk after July 24 th.

The Meeting Technical Secretariat will acknowledge the reception of abstracts. After subsequent analysis and deliberation by the Scientific Committee, authors will be notified whether or not the Abstract has been accepted.

The abstracts should be sent through the web page according to the following requirements:

  • The work will be presented in poster format, and should indicate the interest or not to present it orally.
  • Admittance will be given only to those abstracts presented through the official Meeting web page.
  • The Scientific Committee will evaluate the Abstracts. The request to present them orally will be based on their scientific interest.
  • All Abstracts must indicate the Session of the Meeting in which they would like to be included.
  • The length of the Abstracts will be adapted to the space availability on the web page form.
  • In all cases, at least one of the authors of the Abstracts should be registered to attend the Plant Gem Meeting.
  • The Poster format will have the following dimensions: 120 cm length by 90 cm wide.
  • Posters should be placed in the beginning of the congress and remain until its closure.
  • Periods for poster discussion will be organized and announced closer to the meeting date.

ORAL - POSTER INSTRUCTIONS 8th PlantGEM,
7-10 October 2009, Lisbon, Portugal

Instructions for ORAL presentations

PowerPoint presentations on USB Mass Storage Device are preferred. Speakers must hand their CD presentation to the speaker coordinator who will be at the congress venue (registration desk), either during the registration, or eventually at the session before the one in which he(she) is speaking.

  • Orals will have 10 min for presentation, plus 5 min for discussion
  • keep the amount of information on each slide to a minimum
  • make the text, structures, and tables, etc. of a size such that they can be easily seen from the rear of the auditorium
  • choose colours, especially in PowerPoint slides, that are bold and do not clash
  • choose backgrounds that do not reduce legibility through poor contrast

 

POSTER Instructions

Posters should not exceed 90 cm (width) x 120 cm (height).
A poster should be self-explanatory and give the essentials of your work. Do not overload it with findings or text. Keep sentences short and pithy. Arrows or numbers should indicate the order of the panels.
A poster should be easily readable from a distance of one meter. There will be specific time for watching and discussing the posters (even / odd) along the meeting period, and there will be a special prize given to the best Poster (regarding scientific content and quality of presentation) as selected by a Committee.

In the preparation of a poster, please:

  • keep the content to a minimum
  • avoid the use of a large amount of text
  • use large lettering, structures, tables, etc.
  • use colour to highlight important points
  • be careful that the background does not detract from legibility

 

Prize for the best Poster - The scientific content and the quality of the presentation will be evaluated by a Committee composed of the Invited Speakers and Chairs of the 8th PlantGEM. The prize and the winner will be announced in the Gala Dinner.
